Just another day
I'm forcing myself to start a new habit. Not really new though, not even original-- just few of old habits trying to be reinforced.
Getting up early is one--early means at least 7am. It became so hard that I sometimes (months now!), staying in bed past 8am became the norm. It's not me.
Because of our new normal, my sleep is in fraction. If lucky, 10pm to 3am so to wake Paolyne up for her class (that's 7am Philippine time) and then a short nap to again wake up at 4am for Maxene (she starts at 8:30am, Philippine time). Sometimes, due to responsibilities, sleep only starts by 11:30pm which means I get less than 4 hours before peace gets interrupted.
The kids are still under Philippine online school, so my sleep pattern is never back to normal since they arrived here in UAE.
The only salvation is Saturday. But which of course, I'm too excited to have my only day off that I'm usually up by 6am. It's also their school day off, so the kids take the chance to sleep late. See what I mean?
Being a mother is a 24/7 duty. More than an army, more than the government. Mothers are the essentials in the basic unit, which is the family. Remember, everything starts at home.
Do I love being a mother?! Of course!
Do I feel tired? I'm only human.
Do I regret it? Not a bit.
There's this peace, warmth, feeling of satisfaction, elation, calmness in every hugs and small kisses and in their smell (necks, armpits, palms 😊) that you will never find anywhere.
It's the kind of emotion that nothing can fill but them. It's like pieces of you are in them, so without them you won't feel complete.
I know. This is too much. This is sleep deprivation talking. 😁
So back to the habit. Waking up early, yes.
Going out (I'm being careful--masked and all), waiting for the sun, bask under Vitamin D for 10-20 mins.
And in the afternoon, we do go for strolls, (again carefully distanced from crowd, masked). Paolyne and I will do some brisk walking starting this week.
Eating more healthy, avoiding too much carbs. No off the roof sweets.
Just being centered, healthy, and more active.
And to write just about whatever it is that I have in mind, if it'll help with anxiety or whatever (age!)
